Paula Rastrick – The Brain Body Coach

Paula is the creator and founder of the Brain Body Method ™

Prior to setting up Physiyolates with husband Paul she spent 8 years working within Sport Science and Medicine at Aston Villa Football Club.  During this time, Paula created a totally unique and fully integrated Sports Performance Yoga and Pilates studio at Villa’s training ground at Bodymoor Heath working across both the 1st Team and the Academy.

Prior to setting up Physiyolates with husband Paul she spent 8 years working within Sport Science and Medicine at Aston Villa Football Club.  During this time, Paula created a totally unique and fully integrated Sports Performance Yoga and Pilates studio at Villa’s training ground at Bodymoor Heath working across both the 1st Team and the Academy. 

Paula combines her several areas of expertise within her Brain Body Method ™ these include Sport and Exercise Psychology, High Performance and Transformational Coaching, applied Neuroscience Yoga and Pilates.  She has studied with the Institute of Yoga Sports Science based in New York.  The institute has the largest research database in the world on the efficacy of sports specific yoga to improve athletic performance whilst at Villa, Paula carried out active case study research using an elite goalkeeperAlong with her passion for yoga, she is also clinically trained in the Pilates method and specialises in injury rehabilitation using both mat and studio equipment. 

Working with up to 65 players on a daily basis both individuals and groups, Paula gained extensive experience of managing groups and individuals by creating and implementing unique rehabilitation and recovery techniques. 

The challenge at Bodymoor was to create bespoke programmes for athletic fitness, injury prevention and pre-habilitation at both 1st team and Academy level. This was done in conjunction with the development of a unique Yoga Long-Term Athletic Development Plan within the academy.

The overall result was the development and launch of a unique Performance Coaching Programme which was successfully rolled out across the Academy.  The innovative programme supported by a series of presentations and workshops combined sports psychology with yoga and the programme was rolled out across the whole academy and later presented to the FA. 

In addition to working for Aston Villa, Paula has also acted as a consultant to other Football Clubs in relation to both the Social and Psychological Performance Programme for young academy players aged 8-18.

Paula is passionate about the need for mental fitness to be recognised and combined with physical fitness Her Brain Body Method ™ is the culmination of many years experience working not just within elite sport but also her business background in Human Resources and Training and Development.  The areas of Personal Development, Psychology and Neuroscience are her absolute passion and her work is underpinned with her infectious energy and enthusiasm. 

Along with Paul, these combined skills and experience are at the heart of the vision for Physiyolates.
