Pilates was primarily used for rehabilitating wounded soldiers in World War 1. The original inventor of the Pilates Method was Joseph Pilates and way before mat Pilates was created he used an original hospital bed which he adapted with springs and resistance. The modern reformer looks like a bed with springs, a sliding carriage, ropes and pulleys. It can look a little scary at first but trust us after one or to sessions you will realise that it is the most versatile and effective piece of exercise equipment and its great fun!
The modern day version of the reformer is a state of the art piece of equipment which provides a whole body physical and mental work out like nothing else! Reformer Pilates is generally more intense and more dynamic than mat based Pilates in our opinion superior due to the increased variations of sequences and exercise variation available.
We love the reformer because its so versatile. There are over 500 exercise combinations and we guarantee you will never get bored because we never do! We are so passionate about what we do and what we deliver and we take a lot of pride and effort to keep challenging and moving people forwards.
Our training method is totally unique! It’s an integrated movement system that blends the traditional Pilates method with the latest research in Neuroscience, Sports Science, Exercise Psychology and High Performance Coaching.
You can’t train muscles your brain cant find! – with this example, we start to realise that integrating the brain is absolutely key and plays a crucial role in posture, dynamic movement, pain management, injury recovery, strength and stability training and all aspects of health and wellbeing.
